This is the first book I’ve read by Leslie McAdam, I was pulled in by the synopsis but a little unsure when I started to read the book. It took me a little bit to get into the flow but once I did I really enjoyed this book. Jessica is a lawyer struggling with where she’s going in life and letting things from her past hold her back. She finally takes the jump to live life for herself and when she does it leads her on a journey of self discovery and confronting demons from her past. All this occurs with the help of her exceptionally HOT, built, new roommate Mikey. Mikey is a successful veterinarian and personal trainer who loves to do parkour. While Mikey helps bring Jessica out of her she’ll he starts to realize a few things about himself and work on being a better person. I really like how Leslie wove her story around the scenery of Santa Barbara while conquering some heavy subject matter. It was done with grace and kindness. It was almost like she had lived some of this herself and spoke from experience. This may have been my first book written by Leslie McAdam but it won’t be my last.About the Author:
Leslie McAdam is a California girl who loves romance, Little Dude, and well-defined abs. She lives in a drafty old farmhouse on a small orange tree farm in Southern California with her husband and two small children. Leslie always encourages her kids to be themselves – even if it means letting her daughter wear leopard print from head to toe. An avid reader from a young age, she will always trade watching TV for reading a book, unless it’s Top Gear. Or football. Leslie is employed by day but spends her nights writing about the men you fantasize about. She’s unapologetically sarcastic and notoriously terrible at comma placement (that’s what editors are for!). Always up for a laugh, Leslie tries to see humor in all things. When she’s not in the writing cave you’ll find her fangirling over Beck, camping with her family, or mixing up oil paints to depict her love of outdoors on canvas.
